There is a lot of hope in the new football season.
This mostly comes from many teams having changed their coach:
- Juventus, Motta
- AC Milan, Fonseca
- Monza, Nesta
- Bologna, Italiano
- Fiorentina, Palladino
- Napoli, Conte
- Lazio, Baroni
- Torino, Vanoli
- Empoli, D’Aversa
- Udinese, Runjaić
- Venezia, Di Francesco
- Verona, Zanetti
60% of Serie A teams decided to change their coach. Juventus, AC Milan, Napoli were not happy with the previous season’s results.
Juventus went for Motta, who in two years took a Bologna side from mid-low table to Champions League football.
AC Milan went for Fonseca, who showed skills with playing attractive football and increasing the performance and value of young players.
Napoli decided for Conte, whose work ethic can turn a team into a winning one, like he did with Juventus and Inter Milan.
All the supporters of these teams, including myself, have one thing in common: hope for a better season and, in the case of the top three among these teams (Juve, Napoli, AC Milan), attractive and entertaining football.
The transfer market window further enhances this feeling of hope.
Juventus have been doing business following their new coach idea of football as well as a reduction in salaries.
They signed Douglas Luiz from Aston Villa, K. Thuram from Nice, Di Gregorio from Monza, and Cabal from Verona.
At the same time they have been selling players from the academy (Barrenechea, Iling Jr.) or those who were considered not suitable for the new style of play (Kaio Jorge, Kean).
As far as me, I can’t wait for this new season to start.
The past three seasons have been disappointing in terms of results but especially when it comes to playing a watchable football.
I am hoping to see the team fight on every ball and do some decent passing as a minimum goal.
The ideal goal would be seeing the team playing some Brazilian-style type of football.
I am also hoping to have the chance to fly to Torino and watch a match live, maybe a Champions League one.
Hope fuels this pre-season for sure!
