Only yesterday I wrote a post about Okkervil River and the Antlers, and how buying tickets for this gig took me back to my indie snob days.

In those days, I would buy tickets well in advance, generally the first months of the year.

I would look for gigs on that year, January to December, and buy tickets in bulk.

Nowadays I can’t even remember when was the last time I went to a proper gig.

This brings me to today’s topic: I just got a free ticket to see a special performance of James Vincent McMorrow live at Windmill Lane Studios!

Me and JVMM go a way back.

I saw him for the first time at the Academy in 2010, when he was support for Rain Machine, a side project of Kyp Malone from TV on the Radio.

I also remember running into him at the gents’ and briefly telling him how his music reminded me of Bon Iver.

To which he replied he didn’t know who Bon Iver was.

Anyway, this unexpected free ticket comes as a sort of indie serendipity. My indie (snob) past meeting my (family man) present.

I wrote a short blog post about James Vincent McMorrow LIVE @ Windmill Lane QTR (Dublin, 13/06/2024) on my old blog, Pamello’s Moleskine (now renamed “My Old Moleskine”), which has been inactive for at least four years now.

The indie snobism is kind of striking back at me!
